Let's Get Trendy Now!3 - Day 1: Neon

Eye-catching, bold and vibrant, fluorescent neon colours can add such interest to your projects. But how can we use neon colours on our projects without looking like we've gone way back to the 80s?

1. Focus on ONE main neon colour.

The use of various shades of one striking neon colour can make a great impact as seen in guest designer Ujjwal Gupta's MDF monogram.
For more details on this monogram and a complete supply list, please visit Handmade with Love.

2. Add a little glitter to your mix.

Glitter is a great way to add neon to your project because we all know that glitter makes everything look better! *winks* Check out the impact of a graphic glittered neon card as shared by guest designer Alice Wertz

For more details on this card and a complete supply list, please visit Alice's Little Wonderland.

3. Use neon with black.

Using neon colours with neutrals is a way to tone down the brightness of the bold colours and bring overall balance to your project as seen in this lovely layout by guest designer Michelle Hernandez.

For more details on this layout and a complete supply list, please visit My Analog Life.

4. Add textures with neon.

The brightly coloured feathers provide such a bold backdrop for designer Julie Tucker-Wolek's embroidery hoop.

For more details on this embroidery hoop and a complete supply list, please visit Life with the Wolek and Tucker Clan.

5. Add neon in small doses.

By adding neon colours in little bits, designer Amy Tsuruta was able to incorporate pops of  bold colours on her layout.

For more details on this layout and a complete supply list, please visit Tsuruta Designs.

6. Use neon as an accent.

By varying the proportions of neon colours on her card, designer Yvonne Yam created a bold and striking card.

For more details on this card and a complete supply list, visit Do More With Less.

There you have it. 6 different ways of incorporating neon on your projects. And some awesome tips from our designers! Are you ready to give neon a go? We would love for you to show us your take on NEON. Please link your newly created neon projects via Inlinkz [located at the end of the post] by June 30 11.59am EST for your chance to win this prize sponsored by the lovely Annette Allen of My Clever Creations. Please read rules of play to ensure eligibility for our prizes.

For those of you who love to work with sketches, here are today's sketches. :)
